Instructional Designer
General Nature of Job-This job entails developing and delivering training for the company’s software products.
Did I qualify? No, due to these requirements:
- Experience with various application (e.g., Articulate, Flash, DreamWeaver, Course Builder) and/or HTML a plus (I do not know how to use any of these apps); and
- MS in Instructional Design or Instructional Technology (Don’t have the MS for sure!)
Software Implementation Specialist
General Nature of Job-This job requires installing VIA Practice Management Software in veterinary hospitals and training the staff how to use said software.
Did I qualify? Probably not the best fit, due to this caveat:
- Veterinary experience (I love animals---does this count?)
- The job posting also stated 80% AND working on week-ends would be a part of this position. That’s a negative for me.
Instructional Designer
General Nature of Job-This job involves designing or writing or training corporations on the use of this company’s product (blended learning, e-learning software solutions).
Did I qualify? No, because of these requirements:
- Need experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Flash, InDesign, SoundForge, Articulate, Lectora, and Captivate (I know nothing of any of these!); and
- Knowledge of a foreign language helpful but not required (I have no knowledge of any foreign language).
Here are some interesting "trends" I noticed with this assignment:
Foreign language is a needed skill.
If you don't want jobs that require less than optimal hours, weekend work and lots of travel, you'd better get a Masters' degree in your field.
