This is a booklet I created used the website http://simplebooklet.com. It sounded great in theory but fell apart in application...well, at least it did for me. I really wanted this to work, because it "seemed" like a good vehicle for the students at my school to use. As much trouble as I had making this work, I would hate to multiply my frustration by a classroom full of students.
What I didn't mention in the booklet (because I was about to pull my hair out to get the little amount in the booklet that I did!) was this:
One of the most powerful "informal learning" sessions I've participated in is having lunch several times a week with a techy colleague. Not every day, but on many days, our conversations turn to technology issues, solutions to technology problems or even an impromtu training session. There is not a designated "instructor"...depending on the issues at hand, we take "turns" in that role. Is it social? Certainly. What was the experience like? Educational and fun.
Sandy, you are not alone. I have a co-librarian and we discuss numerous things throughout the day. There are times when I have to ask her to guide me step by step through some technological issue within the library. Although she always says she'll do it, but I'll never learn if I don't actually go though the process myself. This is career related, but I enjoy it nonetheless. Afterwards I have more questions on how I can attempt something else. Its a learning process and I love learning new things.
ReplyDeleteOh J@zzy Libr@ri@n.....how I envy you! To have a co-librarian would be wonderful! I'd love to have another professional to share the library load and to bounce ideas off of. I am very fortunate to have an aide....but it's not quite the same. It's nice to have a tech bff...isn't it? I'm the same as you...in order to remember it, I've gotta do it. Sadly, my tech buddy has moved to another campus where she'll be running our television studio. It was a great opportunity for her...but I certainly miss her daily support.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what you can learn from others in an informal way.
